Terms of use

1 . Outsmart the Thief Ltd provides access to a 24 hour call centre facility and is for emergency use only.

2 . Our normal office hours are 10.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday, any sales, technical or operational queries should be directed to the office during working hours. All emergencies should call the 24 hour helpline on either 07407 606060 or 07469 606060.

3 . Your Lockdown® device has been installed as a security system, it is your responsibility to ensure that your wireless batteries are maintained and regularly checked every 12 months or as per the user guide.

4 . Although our system has very low power consumption it is still essential that you check your vehicle battery at regular intervals to ensure the operation of the system is not affected.


1 . You will have purchased your system with either a 1, 3 or 5 year monitoring package. We will text you approximately fourteen days before your subscription expires and invite you to renew.

2 . Should you fail or forget to renew then we will issue a reminder, however 28 days after your subscription has expired your system will be archived. You may still be able to renew after this period, though subject to an administrative charge of £30.00 + vat.

3 . Your subscription is not transferable to another customer.

4 . No refunds can be offered against your unused subscriptions.

5 . Subscriptions can be transferred when you move the system from vehicle to vehicle, system to system or even frozen whilst vehicles are exchanged.

Transferring the system to another person

1 . You can have your Lockdown® device uninstalled and reinstalled to another compatible vehicle, any remaining subscription will carry over. You will be liable for the costs of the removal from your old vehicle and the re-fitting into your new vehicle.

2 . You can transfer your Lockdown® system to another customer, they will be liable for a re-registration fee of £30.00 + vat and their subscription either a 1, 3, or 5 year package.

Monitoring and Usage

1 . Your Lockdown® system is effective in mainland UK, Ireland and across Europe. The system uses a roaming network which enables our devices to roam on to any network, it is still however limited by the network coverage that is available. There is always the possibility that from time to time you may find your vehicle in an area of poor or no mobile coverage, this is beyond our control and we cannot be held liable should this occur. It is very unusual and unlikely to affect our ability to recover your vehicle should it then be stolen.

2 . Our monitoring centre is designed to identify stolen vehicles and so it is very important our resources are not tied up reacting to false alarms, we will advise you verbally if we think you are triggering your system excessively. We feel that no more than six false activations per month is a reasonable allowance, excessive triggering will result in a charge of £30.00 + vat.

3 . In the event of an alarm alert it is your responsibility to ensure the vehicle is safe and secure. Should the vehicle be attacked or stolen you must contact the police to obtain a crime number, you will need to provide us with this number so that we can liaise directly with the police.

4 . Outsmart the Thief Ltd reserve the right to decline your business, we accept no responsibility for the use or misuse of the system, text service or the free mobile phone app.
