Your motorhome represents a major commitment in monetary terms; possibly only second to your home so surely it follows that one should both care and protect that valuable investment. Developed over a century ago the audible alarm grew in popularity with motor vehicle mass production, yet it still does not stop them being stolen. Today, there is a plethora of motorhome security devices available in the marketplace but one size most certainly does not suit all.
As motor-caravan technology advances and especially electronics, so has the dedicated thief in their approach to target and steal your valuable motorhome. Cloning, jamming even grabbers of key code devices are now cheaply and widely available. Joy riders on a wet, late night walk home may be foiled and walk on, but not members of a professional gang stealing to order! These are organised and dedicated thieves, good at their chosen line of employment and well aware of alarm units pin-pointing each fitting's weak points and positions including trackers, and can disarm or override within seconds.
These are the same approved motorhome alarms and trackers you rely on; being activated by the vehicle key or by the ignition switch, as are manufacturers passive immobilisers. With cuts to Police forces there have already been numerous instances where the police were forced to prioritise, failing to recover a stolen vehicle even when they had the last known location via a tracker, this is only going to get worse.
Insurance companies may offer small premium discounts, or dependant on retail price demand sophisticated security devices, such as Cat 1 alarms and/or tracking devices to be fitted. But they too, now face unprecedented claims for stolen by unknown means or in other words electronic theft! It wasnt long ago when thieves needed to break into the owners home to steal those all-important vehicle keys, enabling them to circumnavigate the vehicles immobiliser security but this is no longer the case.
Thieves don't need a key!
More than 95% of motorhomes stolen today use the key or electronic theft, this means if your immobiliser, alarm or tracker is armed and disarmed using the vehicle key or ignition, you have less than a 5% chance of your alarm activating or giving a theft alert. Imagine the scenario that not only your keys but your treasured motorhome have been stolen. You make a single phone call and your motorhome is located and the thieves are stopped in their tracks by Remote Control! You would be excused for thinking that is pure fiction. However, the combined Gemini alarm with the Lockdown® immobiliser/tracker' by Outsmart the Thief does just that...and more!
Lockdown® is a bespoke motorhome security system, manufactured exclusively for Outsmart the Thief Ltd by world-renowned Italian specialist company Gemini Technologies. Comprising two small units, a modest wiring loom combined with siren, two remote activation fobs and dash mounted dongle-park.
Lockdown® can be fitted to the majority of motorhomes regardless of make or type; operating on a multiplex of vehicle platforms using analogue and digital signals. It even monitors the battery and alerts should it go low or when tampered with, it also has its own back-up battery built-in.
Tracking systems were only successful in the past because the thief didn't expect one to be fitted. Now they do, and if found and ripped out, the vehicle could be long gone but not so with our Lockdown® unit. If found, wiring cut or even tampered with, say via the OBD port (vehicle on-board diagnostics) the unit recognises that its being targeted and attacked. The control centre is alerted, and the system's failsafe mode within the software prevents the vehicle's engine from starting.
The targeted vehicle may be damaged or wounded - but NOT stolen!
Further features allow the unit to be activated while someone and/or pets remain inside, without falsely triggering the alarm. If for any reason the alarm is sounded say you forgot to disarm before unlocking, then as for any alert the control centre will text and telephone a stored mobile/home telephone number to advise you of the alert. They will also tell you which of the circuits has activated the alarm. Should the thief ever manage to steal your motorhome, say with the system turned off or under duress then the safestop command can be sent to render the engine dead. You can also set off the alarm siren and flash the hazard lights.
Tracking is available 24/7 across Europe and beyond, the unit reporting and storing its last location when parked, or reporting every four seconds whilst on the move. Unauthorised entry of course triggers the alarm to you and the monitoring centre, it even knows the point of attack. There are also intelligent self-levelling tilt sensors protecting the motorhome, which will detect any movement along or across the vehicle. This will send an alert if the vehicle is tilted for any reason.

LOCKDOWN®
Is our registered and most powerful feature - once the alarm and 'Lockdown®' immobiliser are armed an encrypted signal is sent to the on-board security system, this alerts the unit to ignore the alarm remote control, keeping the vehicle immobilised. Even with any type of key or remote control, the alarm cannot be deactivated; therefore the vehicle will not start.
SAFESTOP™
Another of our trademark features where the monitoring centre can stop the vehicle. By signalling the engine ECU remotely, the control centre can safely stop the engine. Then further drawing attention to the motorhome by activating the alarm siren and flashing the vehicle lights. This feature can be activated regardless to the condition of the alarm or immobilisers, and with or without police authorisation an added bonus being no need for dangerous police chases.
365 DAYS A YEAR MONITORING
Your motorhome alarm is monitored and tracked 24-hours, 365 days a year, throughout the UK, Europe and beyond. A precise location is also given immediately the motorhome alarm is triggered, and information on which alarm circuit has been activated. Monitoring is charged at £99.00 per annum, or discounted to £255.00 for a three years or £399.00 for a five year package.
MOBILE PHONE APP (Available Soon)
Apple and Android customers can Lockdown®, locate and receive alarm alerts using our mobile phone app. Also if youre unsure if you have correctly armed the motorhome alarm while out exploring - of course the mobile phone app can do that too!
TEXT CONTROL
This feature allows you to have full remote control access to the alarm, immobiliser and tracking system by sending a simple text command to a dedicated mobile number, with this you can fully or partially arm/disarm the alarm, sound the alarm and flash the motorhome lights. The status command will send you a full report including a Google map link to track and locate your motorhome, you can also immobilise the engine and alarm remote control completely.
REMOTE DOOR LOCKING/UNLOCKING (Vehicle Dependent)
A very usefull feature enabling you or the monitoring centre to remotely lock or unlock the vehicle doors without being near the vehicle, it is a fantastic solution should you loose your keys or get locked out of your motorhome.
TILT SENSOR
There are intelligent self-levelling tilt sensors built into the unit, they will detect any movement along or across the vehicle. These being digital, allow for the motorhome to be placed/parked on a hill without causing the alarm to be falsely triggered.
INTERNAL MOVEMENT SENSORS
Ultrasonic sensors will monitor any movement inside your motorhome or camper van, The sensitivity is fully adjustable to prevent false activations. Two small sensors are fitted at the front of the vehicle and pointed towards the rear, these sensors can be isolated to allow you to sleep in the camper van or keep a pet inside while the alarm is still armed.
PANIC BUTTON
By simply pressing a button on the remote control, the siren sounds and the vehicle lights flash. When activated or deactivating the panic alarm, the system leaves the doors still locked so you and your motorhome are fully protected.
WIRELESS DOOR CONTACTS
Specifically designed for the leisure market, these small contacts are ideal for protecting all your habitation lockers and doors. The motorhome alarm system can provide cover for over 50 wireless products, being wireless means a far less intrusive installation with no wires visible.
WIRELESS WINDOW CONTACTS
With an easy to install purpose made bracket, these wireless contacts are the perfect solution for protecting those vulnerable windows and vents. As with all our contacts, detectors and remote controls the batteries are replaceable.
WIRELESS 360º PIR DETECTOR
An optional wireless 360º detector is available which is perfect for detecting unauthorised movement within a large motorhome. It also incorporates a lock-out feature, preventing continuous false alarms. The PIR detector is isolated when using either the night or pet setting.
NIGHT/PET SETTING
The night/pet setting allows you to sleep inside the motorhome or leave a pet inside with the system still armed, it can also be activated remotely via the app or text control feature from any mobile phone.
REMOTE CONTROLS
Attention to detail is revealed when using the two supplied 4 button remote control fobs; these use a random encrypted rolling-code to prevent grabbing devices being effective. Further remote controls can be added to your motorhome alarm, either at installation or later.
SELF-REPAIR DIAGNOSTIC TECHNOLOGY
Our unique self-diagnostic repair technology has a watchtower chip installed which regularly checks itself (so you don't have to) for any faults or anomaly, Should it find anything, it will use its built-in software to rectify any situation and reporting this to the monitoring centre. It can even power itself down and perform a total reset back to that set on installation.
LOW BATTERY & TAMPER ALERT
Software constantly monitors the battery condition, should it be tampered with or go low, an alert will be sent to both the monitoring centre and you.
BATTERY-BACKUP
The system is protected by an internal battery-backup, this is only used when the vehicle battery drops below a certain voltage or is disconnected.
SAFETY CIRCUIT
A built-in safety feature is fitted; preventing accidental arming of the motorhome alarm whilst driving.
INTERNAL STATUS LED
The system comes as standard with a flashing internal status LED.
WARNING STICKERS
Window warning stickers are supplied as standard free of charge upon request.
FAIL-SAFE OVERRIDE DONGLE
A highly encrypted manual override dongle and dongle park are supplied with every system, these are used as fail-safe to disengage the security system should you lose your remote controls.
BONNET PIN SWITCH
Supplied as standard this bonnet switch is designed to protect the engine bay, however not all motorhomes require one to be fitted.
TRANSFERABLE
Should you wish to sell or change your motorhome, the system is transferable from customer to customer or from one vehicle to another. Monitoring can be transferred from vehicle to vehicle, system to system or even frozen whilst vehicles are exchanged.
